I think one of challenge facing many is the feeling that high-tech problems are beyond their skill set to effectively dismantle. It’s hard to find a hammer when the machine is backed up.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
ICE's "Freaky Friday" threat against unaccompanied immigrant children
Community alert by the National Immigrant Justice Center and Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights

Immigration attorneys have received a troubling notice about a possible ICE operation called "Freaky Friday."
VERY IMPORTANT: This is not a raid in schools and not aimed at all children. The operation is said to focus only on unaccompanied immigrant children.
It's likely that this information will come in the form of a letter or email from the immigration officer. We currently have no reason to believe that ICE will be showing up at schools.

What does "unaccompanied" mean?
These are minors who:
• Arrived in the U.S. without their parents and were immediately transferred to shelters run by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR)
• This includes children currently detained in those shelters as well as those who were previously released from the shelter to a
"sponsor" or guardian.
• This can also include children who were apprehended later by the immigration authorities and designated "unaccompanied," even if they were not detained at the time they entered the U.S.

Parents and Sponsors
There is no sign that ICE is coming into schools to take children.
The best steps we can take right now are:
Share accurate information
Make sure children are not frightened into
"departing the U.S."
Keep copies of any letters or emails you receive and contact your lawyer immediately before signing or sending anything
NOTE: Be wary of scammers.
Speak to a reputable immigration attorney before paying anyone who asserts that they can quickly obtain immigration status for you.
