Can we just take a minute and acknowledge that our POTUS is right OUT IN THE OPEN lobbying Congressional members to vote against releasing the Epstein files?! Like... what the fuck else does anyone even need to know?

I think it's pretty telling that the Republicans thought that, in order to take the pressure off to release all the files, they needed to release a MINIMUM of 23,000 emails! Some of which implicate Trump already!
Let's be clear about this: This is the Republicans trying to get in front of the inevitable blowout scandal by releasing just enough #Epsteinfiles documents to remove the pressure for a discharge petition to release ALL of them, now that Grjalva has been sworn in.

Once again it's worth noting that we don't really know if Vladimir Putin has any dirt he's blackmailing Donald Trump with. But if he did, Trump would be doing exactly what he has been doing all along: dismantling the United States as a global power.

So, so many. One I'll pick from my youth: Watership Down, by Richard Adams. It was the first time I had the experience of reaching the end of the book and being crestfallen that this was the end of the story. I wanted it to go on forever. That book was real magic.

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

I was surprised (and alarmed) but fine. I moved things around and went there a few minutes ago.

Only there was no real appointment. The receptionist said I wasn't supposed to receive any 1/

Earlier this week it seemed certain the Democrats were going to roll over the Republicans in the midterms.
Now it looks like they've agreed to not even have midterms, and to permanently become the Republicans' patsy.
Such terrible politics. We get nothing, they get everything. It's over.
Dems have just decided to surrender and let Trump starve poor people, and drive up medical costs for ACA enrollees to get...
... a promise to hold a vote
... filibusterable, in the Senate
... when nothing compels the GOP to honor it
...it won't pass anyway
...and the House won't even take it up.

Senate Democrats asked for a year of ACA subsidies and were told to fuck off.

So they came back and asked for a pinky promise to hold a vote on ACA subsidies that they will assuredly lose?

Seriously?
From what I have seen so far this does not seem like a good deal:

Done 'em all (although "blasting" a boombox is a bit of an overstatement; my box was laughably small, and I kept the volume at a normal level because it's polite — and even as a clueless teenager I knew that no one else wanted to here me play Rush.)
I have never done (9) (it's anti-social), (13) (Blockbuster never operated in my country), or (20) (those things were *expensive*).
