All of them are rather jumpy and have a strong reflex to seek safety underwater. The two "strong-character" females are less prone to get frightened and jump into the water, but one of them has gotten more jumpy with age.

The only male I have is also very curious and alternates phases in which he seeks my attention with others where he minds his own business. Each phase usually lasts for a couple of months. He's more active in summer, of course.

As for their personality, there's quite a bit of variation among different individuals. I've had two females with very strong character: very curious, insistent and seeking interaction with me. Another female is, however, very shy.

I've lived with several Trachemys scripta for 35 years, since I was a kid. Regarding their size, they've gotten to 20 cm in shell length and between 1,2 and 1,4 kg in mass.

When they were young they were installed in a rather small enclosure, I don't know if that can affect their size.
