The romance is more of a subplot that the star of the show. Told in single POV, Margot, our female protagonist’s story is much more fleshed out. But this in no way detracts from the story.

Thank you Lindsay Barrett for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

This is a gem of a book and you should read it.

It is heart wrenching, a little scary and alot amazing.

Beautifully written, I couldn’t put it down.

And I really want more of Pete, Emil's older woodcarving brother.

Thank you Kat Sterling for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

We also have really well developed characters with their human strengths and failings.

I loved the extended cast of characters as well. Olive and Emil's respective families and the friends at the Suffrage Society.

Another fantastic instalment in The Seattle Suffrage Society series.

This was the story of pianist, Olive, and detective, Emil.

Kat Sterling does and excellent job of building the relationship between her two leads.

So much has been said about this book and I don't think I can add much to it.

It's hot and sweet and everything in between.

And the angst is super high.

Rachel Reid has really pushed the hockey romance to new heights with this one.

However, we have a lovely cast of characters. Raya and Strick from The Duke Gets Desperate were stand outs. It was so fun to see their continuing relationship.

I also loved the use of Arabic and the Palestinian culture displayed in the story.
cindyreadsromance.bsky.social
The conclusion felt a bit rushed and I would have liked them to spend more time together in the present getting to know each other as adults.

This was heavy on the angst and pining!

Full of miscommunication and missed connections, we’re really put through the wringer before Naila and Basil get their HEA.

I’m not a lover of dual timeline but here it was important for us to get a view of the destruction of their bright eyed young love.

This was an interesting take and really allowed Sophie Irwin to dig into class, social “acceptability” and the limited agency of women.

This had a slow start but I recommend sticking with it if you’re looking for a slow burn closed door romance.

Just finished 🎧 A Lady's Guide to Fortune-Hunting by Sophie Irwin.

#booksky #romancelandia

We expect fortune hunting women to be unlikeable side characters in our historical romance. But here our FMC, Kitty, is unabashedly fortune hunting front and centre.

I really enjoyed the focus of the story on Duringah’s connection to country and family.

The audio narrated by Tamala Shelton was excellent and really contributed to my enjoyment.

And this is interspersed with beautiful descriptions of the wildlife, the waters and forests and the spirits of the land. But contrasts awfully with the ugliness of the settlers’ treatment of the people of the land.
cindyreadsromance.bsky.social
It is written at a break-neck speed as she is constantly on the move, sometimes of her own choice, at other times escaping servitude and the law.

Part adventure story (Duringah is a bushranger), part love story, and part almost-journal, this novel covers alot of ground.
