... removing just 1% of the population a year would ultimately end in extinction ... as [they] only reproduce every 6 to 9 years."

Tapanuli orangutans survive only in Indonesia’s Sumatran rainforest where a mine expansion will cut through their home. Yet the mining company says the alternative will be worse

Emotionally stunted, sadistic, racist, careless with weapons, no respect for lives. All that should disqualify anyone from law enforcement. But these goons seemed to be hired for the menace they are to everyone, even small children, in usually peaceful communities.

The idea that the US Constitution vests nearly absolute power in one person, in part because presidential elections are the main way govt is accountable to the people, is so crazy, illogical, ahistorical it shouldn’t need rebutting.

But here we are, and @donmoyn.bsky.social explains why it’s wrong.
At will? Whose will?

Thank you Senator Warren. What Americans want is what all other industrialized nations on earth have which is universal healthcare. All of those other nations pay less per capita and cover everyone. Our current insurance based system is designed to impoverish us and then have us die downwind.

Fun fact: Divided evenly across all US farms, $12B would be $6k for each farm. Ask your local farmer if that will cover the damage done by the Trump tariffs.

Cutting benefits doesn't 'incentivise work'. But it does penalise and humiliate people on benefits, and that's the real point.

The only meaningful definition of 'making working pay' is increasing the minimum wage. Cutting benefits is just cutting benefits.
