CJ’s 2025 Halloween Media Thread!

Starting early again this year. Going to be aiming on watching horror movies I hadn’t seen before. Going to play a few horror games too, but it’ll be separate from the proper count.

It takes forever for this movie to get rolling too. It’s 80% set up for a lot of nothing. The acid dead was an unexpected delight and the pedigree of Price and Lee kept me engaged, but this was awful. Maybe look up the scene where Lee kills Price with a medieval ax, but otherwise avoid this one.
cjhitchcock.bsky.social
Apart of the absurdity and audacity of that ending, this movie is a massive slog. It mostly has to do with the two young leads being absolutely dreadful. They radiate “sit-com star” energy in every scene and they’re acting against the best to ever do it. Price and Lee act circles around them.

06. House of Long Shadows (1983) - Prime
3/10

This movie’s ending might be one of the biggest “fuck you”s I’ve seen in awhile. It does a double fake out. A DOUBLE FAKE OUT! It goes from “haha, we’re all actors” to “haha, those actors were actually the twist of the story this guy was writing”. Mad

No movie today. Spent today sleeping.

My guess was going to be a new Chibi-Robo, but people are pointing to Pikmin music. I’m down for a Pikmin 5.

I was playing the GameCube version originally, but saw the HD version was on sale for $5 so I figured I’d see if the save system was more forgiving and it was not. I’m liking the game, but I’m progressing very slowly.

Game 02. Resident Evil (GameCube and HD Remake on Steam)

Still at the beginning portions of the game. I like the puzzles and the combat feels decently challenging, but the save system is rough. I keep doing like an hour’s worth of progress only to get killed and immediately lose my progress.

That being said, I did enjoy this story a lot. It’s got good creepy moments in it and some decent twists. Basically whenever story stuff was happening, I dug it. The moment I need to walk to another room in the dark, terrible. Honestly, I’d recommend watching a LP as opposed to playing it yourself

This style of game just isn’t my thing. There’s no real gameplay outside of “go here” or “remember some numbers”. The only challenge are the mazes with rng kills that feel like padding to prolong the game. This was not fun to play at all.

Game 01. Mouthwashing (2024) - Steam
6.5/10

Here’s what works for me: It’s a really good story. It’s got a unique art style. It’s oozing with atmosphere.

What does not work for me: The fumbling through darkness trying to get to the next part of this walking simulator.

Small update

Stabby bits removed. Painful, but quick this time. Got some additional drugs to help with possible infection. Feeling ok. We’ll see how toe two heals.

Anyhow, guess I’ll stop ranting and try to go back to sleep. Thanks if you read all this. Be excellent to each other.

TL;DR
-Anxious about Shutdown
-Feet hurt, Minor Surgery Monday
-Expensive car fix
-Salty about trainee getting fired.
cjhitchcock.bsky.social
And I’ve had multiple trainees leave before. Again, everyone has their limits and they’ve gone on to better things for them. But this is the first time someone I trained got fired. Like I know I’m not responsible for his behavior, but it does feel disrespectful towards everyone who got him certified
cjhitchcock.bsky.social
I’ve actually trained a lot of people at my job. Not to blow my own horn, but I have a reputation for being pretty damn good at it. I don’t take much pride in my position, but training is something I do take a lot of pride in.
cjhitchcock.bsky.social
And there’s multiple exit points for people who realize the job isn’t for them. There’s plenty of opportunities to bow out. It’s generally aggravating that me and several others poured so much energy into this person and he squandered it.
cjhitchcock.bsky.social
Like, it’s extremely difficult to get fired from my job. Training for the position is a massive time sink. It’s a process that takes literal months to do. There’s also a lot of people who have to invest themselves into training the new hires. The job expects A LOT from you.
cjhitchcock.bsky.social
Also work related thing I feel comfortable sharing, new location discovered I was a trainer and had me train a guy for most of a month off and on. Then after we finished, he got himself fired for absenteeism two weeks later. I am incredibly salty about it.
cjhitchcock.bsky.social
I know times are tough for everyone right now and as I’ve mentioned before I’m trying to be more positive online, but it’s been a rough few months and it looks like that’s going to be the norm for a bit.

Thankfully the horror thread is giving me something fun to distract myself with
cjhitchcock.bsky.social
In lighter news, I had been making decent progress on my money troubles… until the blowout. Hopefully, it’s a temporary set back, but still I’m getting closer to being independent again and moving closer to work.
cjhitchcock.bsky.social
Getting the wheels replaced ended up being a very long process and I was driving my parents’ van for about two weeks or so. BTW, I’m still making that 90 minute drive, one way, to and from work everyday. I basically work a 12 hour day where 3 of those hours are spent driving. It sucks.
cjhitchcock.bsky.social
On top of that, I also had a major blowout a few weeks ago. Thankfully the only damage to the car was the wheel needed to be replaced, but it still cost me around $1700 (I got two of them to replace the donut spare) and of course this is happening right when I need to not spend money.
cjhitchcock.bsky.social
What’s made the recovery difficult is it’s been hard to stay off my foot since my job requires me to be on my feet most of the day running around. My toe does feel worlds better after the removal and I’m looking forward to my other toe not hurting too but I just wanna skip tomorrow and get to Monday
cjhitchcock.bsky.social
-Life stuff-

I’m anxious about how long the shutdown is going to last, but I’m also anxious about getting minor surgery done on Monday. I had an ingrown toenail removed two weeks ago and I have to go back to get the other foot done. It hurt like hell and the recovery has been rougher than I’d like.
cjhitchcock.bsky.social
There’s also a very strange cameo by Whoopi Goldberg. I only mention it because this is now the second vampire movie I’ve watched this year that’s jumped scared me with a cast member of TNG.
