All I wanted to do was teach you, Aculia

I am sorry for what they did to you

I had no part in it. Please, believe me. If my master would have listened to me

Please. No. Not like this.

Visit Camulodunum, capital of Roman Britannia! Warm yourself by the fire! Do you speak Latin? Don't open your mouth until the... visitors... have gone

Girls: Don't bathe in ponds like this, because a God might seduce you. Bathe in the river, because the Goddess there is on your side.

Actually, don't even look in this pond. Or you might see how the prophecy about your mother comes true.

Back to the Romans this evening and I'm reading this, which suggests Boudica's rebellion wasn't really about the Romans at all, but inter-British tribal warfare

An interesting argument but.... nah, not buying it...

so today I am digging my vegetable patch. Then writing.

the digging will help me have empathy for iron age farmers. After all I basically live in one of these... right?

#amwriting this morning... it's the wicker man scene

Fun fact, no-one knows whether the ancient British Druids actually made human sacrifices in Wicker Men. Julius Caesar says they did, but this might have been propaganda - to justify invading Gaul and Britain.
