In awe of this icon at MoMI in Queens when a Gen Z woman behind me said “she’s so beautiful”. She is.

Me: A chandelier can be classy.
American Music Venues: How about 8 of them?

To be fair, The Fillmore is my favorite venue in SF. Perfect live sound despite the chandelier overdose. Alison Moyet was AMAZING tonight.

Today in #bookselling I met Wonder Woman!

And here’s most of the haul. Three more books coming soon from Books Inc,one about Belle Da Costa Greene, one about Little Women and one about the politics of the WPA paintings in Coit Tower. #IBD #independentbookstoreday #indiebookstoreday

I did it! Final store was Book Passage in the Ferry Building. Saw a friend here too. EIGHT bookstores 5.75 miles and a lot of books. #indiebookstoreday #bookstores #idp #aba #booksky 💙📚

I just visited a gem of a bookstore - William Stout Architectural Books. So many beautiful, big books. At the register the bookseller didn’t know it was #IDP, but then he said “hey, we qualify for that”. Just one store left. #booksky 💙📚

Not gonna lie…I’m getting tired. I walked over the hill instead of going through the smelly noisy tunnel, which meant I got to see this view. But also, my legs are a bit wobbly. #sanfrancisco #indiebookstoreday

The next stop needs no introduction. The archetype of independence City Lights. I haven’t been here in 25 years. I was delighted to find an obscure wishlist book in the basement. The bookseller stamped it for me and gave me a free postcard “in honor of the day”. #booksky 💙📚 #idp

Store number FIVE was Russian Hill Bookstore. Very cool high ceilings and stacks of books. I was not expecting to pick up any antiques today, and yet there’s now a 100 year old children’s book in my (now ridiculously heavy) bag. #booksky 💙📚 #indiebookstoreday

Forest Books in Japantown was next. Check out the very SF view on the way there and yes I am walking back up that hill now. Mostly philosophy and religion with some gorgeous antique children’s books that were out of my price range. Still bought something though. #ibd

On to Browser Books, which I’ve never been to before. They had a whole Small Press section, which I bought from. And they split up the Black Wing pencil boxes, which was very smart. #indiebookstoreday #booksky 💙📚

Next stop Books inc in Laurel Village where my friend works. Their internet was down, but the booksellers were still smiling. I bought the #IBD black wing pencils and a large stack of stuff that I’m not carrying with me. #indiebookstoreday #booksky

Started at Green Apple. My favorite used bookstore in the city. I made a new friend over a book about revolutionary embroidery. Our conversation drew the attention of journalism students from SF State who interviewed us. Could have bought half the store. Haul pix later #booksky 💙📚

Hilariously, I managed to not get my own bookstore on the list of participating stores. Which I think makes us REALLY independent (or REALLY overwhelmed).

I just learned that high school kids study this Henry David Thoreau essay, it’s ok. But the accompanying Hannah Arendt essay from 1970 is 🔥.
I like the bit where she describes government as being surrounded by “a protective atmosphere of connivance”. Her whole essay is full of bangers ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Marin #TeslaTakedown protest was small but noisy today. But only because there was another MASSIVE protest at the intersection at the end of the street.

Be the reason poster, now seen in three different SF Bay Area bookstores. Have you seen this anywhere else? #bookselling #bookstores

Had a very nice time at Verbatim Books in San Diego, yesterday. I asked them about the dinosaur theme and was told they “just really like dinosaurs”. #booksky #bookstore
