My friend Iris has been dealing with cancer. Living in the small remote northern community of Łutsël K’é means she has to fly to Yellowknife and Edmonton for treatment. All this travel and costs take its toll, so please consider donating so Iris can focus her energy instead on healing. Please share!

Not me! You missed an “e” in the correct Claudia’s account I think.

A must read article! It details so much of what I've been feeling since I was involved in a wildfire evacuation in 2023. Then dealing with trying to keep working in conservation with this feelings of despair hanging over me. We need to keep fighting for change.

Such an uplifting meeting. Was honoured to be asked to attend and you can see the joy in my face when we took this photo.

It was fantastic to see reps from 24 orgs meet to discuss the future of Canada’s Key Biodiversity Areas.

The group discussed how to bring more awareness to these important areas, and ways to strengthen KBAs as a tool to support work by Indigenous communities & rightsholders.

Until next time! 🌎

And if you wanted something French, I did an interview along with some of our team with the local French newspaper too talking about our collaboration. Starting on page 3.

I’ve got some written media interviews. How about that?

Lots of agencies came together for this one and attendance was great. Meant to showcase the work being done by communities themselves, braided with the Western scientists that took part and supported.

Meaningful because it's in Dënesųłıné Yatı, to reach Elders in the community and is primarily an oral language. We added English subtitles to contribute to language revitalization since, as many Indigenous languages are, it's at risk from ongoing effects of colonization & residential schools.

And we did this webinar as part of a series through Aurora Research Institute along with Sambaa K'e First Nation and Fort Smith Métis Council.

Hi Aerin. Frances was nice enough to tag me in this but I missed it for a long time! Did you still want this? I've got quite a few to share.

Nice! I've been doing this for years!

This is totally it! I’ve had this same issue all my life.

I live in a fairy forest!

Textbooks claim that the boreal region is species poor. This is FALSE. There is a tremendous amount of cryptic biodiversity in the moss and lichen species that literally blanket the north. We just need to slow down and respect the fairy forests.

Neat! Great way to build a community.

So proud to support the Łutsël K’é Dene First Nation with this video in Dënesųłıné Yatı with English subtitles on Biodiversity Monitoring in Thaıdene Nëné Indigenous Protected Area. The purpose to meaningfully engage with Elders and support language revitalization. Enjoy!!
