It would be great if Google Chrome did not ask my students if they want to cheat (oh sorry, offer "homework help" that's just an AI answer to any highlighted question) on every single page of my Canvas site.

#ICA25 was a great opportunity to attend some excellent panels, see old friends, and meet up with new collaborators for the first time in person. Also honored to receive the Environmental Comm Division's biannual dissertation award!

#ICA25 is off to a good start! Yesterday I had the opportunity to present my work with @nicholasejh.bsky.social and Sihao Zhou reviewing activism measures in communication and mass media scholarship. Thanks to the pre-conference organizers for putting together a great day.

One highlight this week was taking part in the @prairieresearch.bsky.social Insight to Impact series. I had a great time sharing tips on effective communication strategies in climate solutions messaging. And the attendees had some great questions!

Winter break has featured some course prep and writing, but also lots of baking, reading, painting, and snowy walks. Feeling ready(ish) for the spring semester.

My first semester as Dr. Troy is complete! Taught a lot on distilling complex environmental topics for a general audience, found a good rhythm of teaching and research, met new colleagues across campus, made progress in my quest to find the best almond croissants and seasonal lattes in town.

Having a great time at #NCA24 so far and enjoyed presenting some of my dissertation research on journalists' experiences covering climate solutions.
