People are always like, "This is a core memory" while watching a sunset with friends or whatever. But all my core memories are, like, the time I was invited to visit the New York Knicks' locker room after the game and though the sandwich buffet was for me when it fact it was for the New York Knicks.

Some writers are planners and know what will happen every step of the way.

Some writers are pantsers and discover the story as they go along.

Some writers are feral demon herders, desperately hanging onto any thread of a story, covered in blood, screaming as it drags them along.

Friend at work said he felt silly editing my reports because ‘you’re a published writer!’ and my instinctive response was to diminish it because it feels so trivial and I’ve not written in so long

Today a boy in my class told me he is writing a book. I exclaimed how wonderful that was and asked him who his audience is. He said ‘myself’ and honestly I think that’s some of the best writing advice ever.

I can handle ignorance about Te Tiriti, after all it’s my job to educate, but deliberate and racist misrepresentation and wilful misunderstanding i find intolerable.
Honouring the Treaty will only make this country better. Toitū Te Tiriti. Always.

A friend at work told me he’d read my book and ‘quite enjoyed it’ and now I’m having flashbacks to when a guy I dated said I was ‘quite pretty’.
