I would hope that @theresthistory.bsky.social would have the common decency to withdraw this episode of their podcast rather than adding to the far too long list of men who treat this grim butchery of women as an exercise in deduction.

I get that the world is in an uneasy place right now. I will however never understand that there is so little outrage about the Taliban in Afghanistan. They have banned books authored by Women now, no leaders in the Western world seem to care. It’s just so awful.

As it's the #AllIrelandHurlingFinal today here's a sporting warrior from another age.

The gravestone of Magnus Mac Orristin in Clonca Church on Donegal's Inishowen Peninsula.

The depiction of a sword alongside a stick & ball illustrates how sport was deeply ingrained with medieval warrior culture

Grief, loss, sorrow is universal. There is this invisible, unspoken thread which unites us all. I know that I don't sit alone in my grief. To you who mourn, who grieve - may a gentle blanket of love rest upon you.

Soubhiye, from Lebanese Arabic, is the enjoyment of a quiet moment of peace before everyone else is awake.

Gökotta is a Swedish term for waking up early to enjoy the birdsong.

For the rest of us, there is hurkle-durkling, from Scots: lingering in bed long after it’s time to get up.

I know, weirdly specific, but there you have it.
