I wish I could! It’s never been easy to make a living in music. Buying music direct on Bandcamp & at shows is always good.

All their millionaire c-levels invest in companies, PACs and politicians who do. There is no ethical consumption under capitalism.

Don't kid yourself. Tidal still only pays artists fractions of a penny per play while paying their non-artist execs millions. There is no ethical streaming service because the model for streaming royalties is fundamentally unethical. It doesn't matter at all which service you use.

I think Daniel Ek is a POS, Rogan too. I just don’t think unorganized boycotts based on socmed shaming of individual users is an effective or useful tactic to challenge systemic power. Streaming rates are a problem across all services. There was never a time musicians got paid what they were worth.

the fact that he picked a slogan that could be so easily misread to either be supporting billionaires or homelessness is a tell that he doesn't have the faculties to lead. even by the most charitable read, it's a bullshit HR newsletter platitude. it's so aggressively tone deaf, limp and uninspiring.

If you have money, your job is not to ask an artist how they plan to make a living. Your job is to ask how you can be helpful, and to fork over cash.

I’m a left-leaning voter in ME. I’m literally the target of your poorly-sourced arg, and you smugly dismiss my issues w/yr arg instead of making a better arg. Dunning-Kreuger in action. You have no business scolding Mainers on class issues you can’t even topically defend or define. Stay in yr lane.

You have never seen this or thought about class like this. This has been the common understanding of class since you were a child. The fact that you don’t know this shows why you aren’t qualified to discuss class seriously. Your framing is 1880s vintage and has been long discarded by sociology.

You’ve never ever heard the term or of Wright before I mentioned it. You don’t even have the tools to make a proper argument. You have vague feelings about inchoate notions of class. What was the last book on class you read?
November 23, 2025 at 4:32 PM
No, you don’t understand the common concepts in any serious discussion on class for the past 50 years like contradictory class
location. Your point was superseded by a more complicated understanding a half a century before you made it. You don’t know how or why bc you aren’t conversant in class.
