Obviously, we want more immigrants, it’s one of our founding principals, but we also don’t want things to happen that will set support for more immigration back in the long term

My reading of “thankfully”, both from knowing the chapter lead and my general view on this is that they are thankful the US isn’t in the situation described, as they are worried it would lead to mass backlash and prohibit future immigration.

Again, this is just bluesky folks misreading. The average American believes that it’s better for folks to come through the normal legal system rather than asylum process, because they view the asylum process as broken and chaotic! Folks who want more immigrants should want to support the popular…

I mean sure yeah. But when you have the tech-adjacent racist weirdos like Wayne arguing about the metrics, it is good to have someone pointing out that they are wrong about the metrics! Maybe the chapter didn’t do it perfectly, but it’s always good to have someone pushing back from a different angle

After her career as an engineer with NASA, Poppy became an attorney and turned her focus to the fight for women's rights. She's served on the national board of directors of the National Organization for Women, and worked with the Texas and Houston chapters of NOW.
