I am honored to have received an Early Stage Investigator award and the opportunity to present my work on mitochondrial biology in Costello Syndrome at the 9th International RASopathies Symposium. I am grateful for the chance to discuss science and life’s challenges with everyone at this meeting.

The 9th International #RASopathies Symposium brought together a really fantastic group of participants & attendees. Inspiring to see the new generation coming up.

I would like to thank our collaborators for making this work possible, as well as the other two co-authors of this work Juan Kochen Rossi and Rachel O’Keefe. It would have been impossible to find a better group of people to work with!!

BIRC6 co-localizes with KRAS4A on the Golgi and mono- and diubiquitinates KRAS4A but not KRAS4B. We found that BIRC6 is required for sustained GTP loading and maximal proliferative activity of KRAS4A.

Here, we defined the differential interactomes of KRAS splice variants using proximity labeling. Among the KRAS4A specific interactors we found BIRC6, a large member of the inhibitor of apoptosis proteins.

Maybe it’s worth trying a second purification of the mitochondrial pellet using a sucrose gradient then m.cshprotocols.cshlp.org/content/2014.... But I understand that it is challenging to get very pure mitochondrial samples!!

Hola Bluesky! 🌟
My name is Cristina, and I am a postdoctoral fellow in the Philips lab at NYU School of Medicine. During my PhD, I trained as a mitochondrial biologist, and I am currently exploring the fascinating role of this dynamic organelle in cancer and rare disorders.
