PERSON OF THE DAY. 6 December 1988. Roy Orbison (“The Big-O”) died (aged 52). He was one of rock ‘n’ roll’s greatest vocalists. Rolling Stone placed him at No 13 on its list of the “100 Greatest Singers of All Time”. His death came when his music was enjoying a renaissance.
