I decided to write my feelings on Duet Night Abyss out, featuring my wishlist for what I'd like in 1.1.

The developers truly need to listen.
I want to love Duet Night Abyss. I really, really do. You’ve seen me talk about this game before, but I think I’ve decided to write down my thoughts - and my hopes for the 1.1 patch. I’m seriously hoping the developers listen, and that they revamp a lot of the systems. I know they likely won’t, and while that’s sad, I thought getting words out was a good idea since I so badly want to see the game succeed. I want it to succeed like Warframe did. I want it to have a resurgence like Wuthering Waves did. I wouldn’t be writing this if I didn’t give a shit about the game’s performance and well-being. Now hear me out. Really, seriously, hear me out. This game isn’t Anime Warframe™. This game is a gacha with Warframe elements. It’s not even properly replicating Warframe elements. If it wants to be like Warframe (i.e. movement, modding system, free access to all characters/weapons, etc), it needs to look a bit deeper than the superficial “this looks like Warframe” bullshit I’m seeing. They didn’t remove the gacha from the game. Not completely. I’m still a baby Tenno in Warframe (~68 hours and MR6), but I see the similarities and I feel more drawn to Warframe (a decades-old game) instead of Duet Night Abyss - even though I was more excited for the latter at first. But that’s changed… and when I tried to ascend my characters from 60 to 70, I lasted a grand total of 20 minutes before I decided to nope out. The game itself felt too bad to play because I was used to the movement in Warframe. It’s sad because it feels like we were sold a game that was fun to move around in, only to be given something that was half-assed with no fix in the future. Let’s dig into my thoughts and what the DNA devs could learn from. Movement in Warframe is seamless, smooth, has weight to it, and you can go extremely fast if you’re running a frame with it (or someone in your lobby has them). DNA feels clunky, you can’t maintain momentum, and your ability to move vertically is awful. The ripoff of Gauss/Volt is abysmal. I opened my first void relics today. They feel better than secret letters do. I’ve had a fantastic experience modifying my frames, coloring them however I wish and looking at other player’s frames in relays and missions. I’ve seen some really gorgeous fashionframe. Color palettes are unlocked and permanently usable. Once you unlock them, you get them for however long your account lives. DNA recently introduced one-time pay and use dyes. You can’t dye the base outfits. You use the dye one time and it’s gone. Outfits and skins don’t look worth purchasing. You gamble for them. My weapons and abilities do things, and I have four different abilities (PLUS a passive) that I can use to fight enemies. The skill expression between different frames that I’ve seen is insane. In DNA, I have two - two - abilities that I can use, and they aren’t always damaging abilities. Even on DPS it’s a buff and a damage ability. There’s no skill expression that I’m seeing. Everything looks simple. Even if I want to use my weapons, they don’t do anything worth mentioning and are merely stat sticks for my characters. Why give weapons if they don’t do shit? If I want to kill a planet’s boss to get drops to craft a frame, I just have to queue into the node to do so. I have yet to run into a limit, so please correct me if I happen to be wrong. I can have blueprints ready for them in a short amount of time, especially if I’m in co-op. DNA has required hours of grinding, sometimes days depending on RNG. You only get 5 attempts across all bosses to get materials. That’s it. It’s extremely restrictive, and it makes grinding not worth doing. Digital Extremes is very vocal and communicative with their fanbase from what I’ve seen, and they hop on any issues immediately - or as soon as they can. They’re eerily speedy with fixes and things. The devs for DNA haven’t spoken on false bans, the optimization issues, the issues with purchases not going through for players after having paid money for them, or even the egregious state of character combat. Are they afraid of their fanbase? 1.1 comes in about a month or so. The devs have a very short window of time to change things, or to improve them. If we don’t see communication on it, I’m willing to bet that this game is on track to see less playing - which means less income for them and less goodwill from their playerbase. It certainly makes you regret spending money if you did. Here’s my “wishlist” so to speak. I will be watching with bated breath to see how they handle 1.1 and if they will actually listen to us. Fix your movement system. Add weight to your helix leap. Modify your climb to be less janky. Look closely at Warframe’s movement if you wish to replicate it. Characters feel too clunky and it feels bad. Secret letter reward drop rates need to be buffed badly. Either that, or include the ability to “enhance” the quality of your secret letters with a drop similar to void traces in Warframe. Also, deal with the demon wedge issues. Make dyes reusable, or lower the price for buying dyes. Allow us to dye base outfits! Let us express ourselves with more than just basic accessories. There are some really creative humans out there. Improve the quality of your cosmetics. Not just more accessories. Proper skins. Make weapons matter more. Improve skill expression, add more than just a buff and damage. Remove the boss limit on materials, or raise it. BE VOCAL WITH YOUR FANBASE. Speak out when things like false bans and accidents happen instead of letting the issues simmer like they are. I’ve met some cool people from the Duet Night Abyss community. I love the game, and I really hope 1.1 shows some improvement. If they intend to rip off components from Warframe, they need to actually look at Warframe instead of what they think it is. I will be waiting for the devstream to see what they cook. If they cook.
