Coloradans want a rational criminal legal system that supports true community safety. It is irrational and unfair that unhoused Coloradans face massively different jail sentences for camping depending on which side of the street they happen to be sleeping on.

HB25-1147 would have mandated basic legal rights to people charged in municipal courts:  a lawyer when jail is on the line. a courtroom open to public observation. a jail sentence that complies with state sentencing laws.

CFF was borne out of a Black Mamas Bailout in Denver for Mother’s Day 2018. It’s been 7 years, and we are proud and humbled to have expanded our liberatory work to jails across the entire state. We will always prioritize freedom for caregivers.
