It’s a beautiful day to ride @wmata.com

This morning’s run did not disappoint. DC has so many stunning places to move outdoors.

I run the best when the sun’s in my face. Anyone else?

Good evening from #Pittsburgh

Hiked through a little bit of #WestVirginia this morning. Didn’t disappoint.

Lovely walk around the neighborhood last night.

Had fun biking around neighborhoods to capture the work of so many volunteers who helped in the #Ward6SpringClean!

Snapped a few other photos along my route on that pleasant Saturday morning, too.

Truthfully, I love riding along the Anacostia because it reminds me of being by the Trinity River.

Another Saturday, another stop by @capitolhillbooks.bsky.social. It’s just too convenient after dropping off the compost at Rumsey.

This Texan (me, not my date) is cold, but we’re ready for some #MardiGras fun at the Wharf!

The #exhibit runs through March 2, and they even offer free tours. (Ayanna Reese did a fantastic job guiding us this morning!) Don’t miss it — learn more and sign up for your own tour here: dclibrary.org/negro-motorist-green-book.

It’s a powerful look at this critical part of #Americanhistory — plus, the stories from #DC natives in the group added an unexpected and wonderful perspective.

Hot take: The @dcpubliclibrary.bsky.social is one of the best parts of living in #theDistrict.

Example: This morning, I toured the “Negro Motorist Green Book” #exhibit at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial #Library.

The Bullet Swallower by @egjames.bsky.social is a fantastic Western-meets-magical realism #novel. I'm drawn to 19th-century #historicalfiction set around the Rio Bravo, and this one delivers #Texas history's truths, the landscape's beauty, and characters I didn’t want to leave when the book ended.

II was just thinking this morning about how other cities could learn from #Dallas' good work with former office buildings (see Dallas Power and Light or the Mercantile Bank building).

This is terribly disappointing news.

Finally opening this one by @megankimble.bsky.social. Reading about highways of my home state while I ride public transportation in DC.

No surprise here: I used @wmata.com to get around a heck of a lot last year.

I never take for granted the infrastructure & service in DC that allows people to get around safely and efficiently without a car. Are there ways to improve? Always. But America’s Subway is still the best.

Duffy thinks the goods in this bag are for him, but they’re really a Christmas gift to myself thanks to staff at @capitolhillbooks.bsky.social providing great (and fast!) recommendations. DC, do this for yourself (or, sure, for others) 👇
