Do you want to know why Birmingham City Council is bankrupt? Chambers have made an excellent documentary on the subject which you can see on YouTube (linked here). I was more than happy to take part and help tell the story.

NOTHING will prepare you for this 45-second story arc. From "I'm just doing this because I love the flag, it's totally grassroots, and I'm not part of anything political"... to who actually gave him the flags the night before.

Anyone who believes it is an innocent movement needs to see this.

Why are the roads in Birmingham so bad? Because the council is in stasis until the government decides whether to allow us to continue with PFI or not. I spoke at the council this week to get them to urge Angela Rayner to get on with it.

Labour confirms car parking charges at Sheldon Country park. It's madness. The money raised in parking charges will be less than the cost of the ticket machines. Everyone will lose out except the people who fit the machines.

“Labour cut your benefits then gave the money to Elon Musk.”

There is no way that this will not come back to bite Labour if they do it.

The city needs more family homes.

Liberal Democrats believe that we have a moral obligation to stand up to Trump and challenge his view of the world.

That will almost certainly necessitate a realignment, where we look closer to home, to our European partners for our future security alliances.

Birmingham's council tax will go up 7.5% this year instead of the 10% that was planned. The equal pay settlement is not as high as some feared, so the council doesn't have to raise quite as much to pay for it.

Ironic that it’s a screengrab from X but we’ll work on that… 😉
People have had enough of Elon Musk interfering with our country’s democracy when he clearly knows nothing about Britain.

It’s time to summon the US ambassador to ask why an incoming US official is suggesting the UK government should be overthrown.

Birmingham's refuse collectors are to strike in the new year.
Birmingham City Council's 'bankruptcy' was caused by equal pay claims from the unlawful settlement to bin strikes in 2017 and 2019. This strike is over making their pay equal.

MPs have BACKED Sarah Olney's Lib Dem bill on electoral reform. This is a historic day for fair votes.

Today, as we have done for a century, Liberal Democrats are leading the fight for fair votes and making sure that no one can be ignored in our democracy.
MPs will today vote on Sarah Olney's bill, which would introduce electoral reform and proportional representation to elections in England.

Following years of the Conservatives’ denigrating standards in public life, we urgently need to restore the public’s trust in politics.
