Really thoughtful writeup! I think this might be almost like a legacy board game: You need a dedicated group completely bought in who will do it once all the way to the end and have a unique experience along the way that won't be repeated.

Big fan of the Haunting, especially for new players. I've made a ton of handouts and tweaks and mods and the sense of creeping doom as they start investigating the history of the house and realizing just how bad things are going to get are just ... *Chef's Kiss.
