Author, educator, public speaker. Leaving academia (prof of theology + environmental studies) for the great wide world, with my rescue dog Marigold keeping me company. St. Paul MN resident; grew up in Chicago.
This looks amazing!!!
First, I cannot *wait* to see this blockbuster of an exhibition at the Morgan Library. But, also, second, please admire Roger Wieck talking about these books. This is the how joy in the history of art sings its song!

Terrific video celebrating a wonderful theologian! Currently reading _The Earth and the Fullness Thereof_ so this was just a delight.
The events at @aarweb.bsky.social's annual meeting have been outstanding. I was honored —beyond words— to attend a round table discussion on my life's work. This 4.5 minute video was shared there, created by my daughter, @serenebabe.bsky.social: youtu.be/9NeWpB28aCM #AARSBL25 #AARSBL

Fascinating interview about someone I had never heard of (but should have! And am grateful for the introduction!)
Audley “Queen Mother” Moore was a civil rights icon, Pan Africanist and pioneer of the reparations movement.

Eleanor J. Bader on the new biography uncovering the legacy of a leader who shaped Black liberation for nearly a century.

Lovely!
Sometimes as an artist you wake up with an itch that needs to be scratched So I was up early painting night skies gilded with real silver for a star gazing mouse. Last minute final addition to the Yule collection on Saturday.

This is sickening
I need everybody to read this and understand what’s going on. These are spouses of US citizens in the country legally. They have entry clearance and green cards, they’ve passed background checks and have no criminal records. ICE is taking them anyway.

You can split hairs all you want @melvincarter.bsky.social but in the eyes of a great many of your now enraged constituents, if your SPPD is tear-gassing and arresting people like those in the left photo instead of arresting and de-escalating the guy in the right, you ARE in fact “assisting ICE”.

This is bad. Really bad.
From the MN Society for Professional Journalists: St. Paul police shot three photojournalists (MPR, Reuters, Sahan Journal) with "less lethal" munitions during an ICE operation yesterday. One had to go to the hospital. They say they were specifically targeted by St. Paul police.

I am furious and devastated that ICE was once again present in Saint Paul and that federal agents continue to jeopardize the safety and well-being of our residents. The destruction this White House has caused our city in just a matter of days is unconscionable.

Please, talk to my wife. Let her tell you what it’s like to be ziptied and hauled away to the basement of a federal bldg.

Have even half the courage she does.
Your constituents are begging you to take a public stand against this. I was literally kidnapped off the streets for doing nothing but filming their criminal behavior. DO SOMETHING.

About 700 Somalis are covered by TPS. To end that status and deny these community members the basic protection they’ve been promised is—like so much of what Trump does—just cruel. It throws people and families into chaos, and is a direct attack on our community.

Trump says he’s terminating legal protections for Somali migrants in Minnesota
Minnesota has the nation’s largest Somali community. Many fled the long civil war in their east African country and were drawn to the state’s welcoming social programs.

The EPA no longer protects Americans or American land and water. Instead they are actively wreaking harm. It’s appalling.

The EPA is starting to allow the use of pesticides containing PFAS on food.

The move is part of an effort to roll back the regulation of what are called "forever chemicals" because they don't break down easily in the environment.

More good news!
Super good news! The U.S. first commercial off-shore wind farm (right here in NYS!) outperformed expectations during its first year.

Lessons: construction happened quickly (much faster than nuclear power); turbines exceeded expected capacity factor; plentiful wind.

And you may find yourself in a beautiful cassock, with designer shoes
And you may ask yourself, "Well, how did I get here?"
