Oh, thank you darling - I love Lucienne so that's a great compliment. I bought a fabric raft of one of her designs yrs ago from the Glasgow School of Art & had it made into cushions & curtains. It's the background of this strange shot rediscovered yesterday (just love that thimble with the nail...).

My grandad George, Bradford War Hospital 1918.
Such a fantastic picture of a malcontent. French new wave cinema would have loved him!

Really enjoyed the mudlarking exhibition at London Museum Docklands (Secrets of the Thames).
(Images below from a book I bought whilst there).
The randomness of the finds through so many ages really appeals to me. Almost glad I don't live in London as I'm sure I could be tempted to give it a go...

Cathi Unsworth – Season of the Witch: The Book of Goth
I went to the Batcave. I had vertical hair. I liked a lot of these bands. But I would never have called myself a Goth - most probably for the simple reason that I already called myself a punk.

Wayne Thiebaud at The Courtauld. Utterly delicious. More nostalgic than pure pop art, it reminds me of early Stephen Shore photos and even Burra’s American deli counter paintings.

More Patti - Break It Up
(50th anniversary tour of ‘Horses’ - London Palladium Show)
Loved the intro story - telling Tom
Verlaine about a dream about Jim Morrison breaking out of a glass cage and flying away with wings, before writing the song together.

Good God, Patti was on FIRE tonight!
The band were tight, taut and spare and Patti was raw and rocking and potent and magical. I swear we all levitate at moment. Very very special.

Love it when sports tournaments birth a bona fide star. The women's rugby world cup (so entertaining) has done just that with the Black Ferns' Braxton Sorensen-McGee. Not only does the 18 yo have the best name, but is SO exciting to watch as a player! Kiwis now out - so till the next time!

Vituperative wally! Classic and mean-spirited way to put down someone you obviously fancy - Mia Farrow wasn't exactly a million miles away...

Deborah Levy - The Position of Spoons
A beautiful and hugely enjoyable collection of essays, musings and ruminations on women and creativity - particularly women writers. I now have a brand new book shopping list of new discoveries. Aargh!
