Democracy requires an educated population and an independent press, not MAGA and Postmedia. We are doomed unless we fix this. Nonpartisan centrist living in the Comox Valley.
The Hegseth killing survivors scandal reminded me of a lesser scandal back when I was at NDHQ during the Harper govt.

The CPC tried to get military members to take the blame for a screwup by PMO staff. The CF refused to take the fall.

1 in 7 Albertans signed this petition to remain in Canada forever, but meanwhile a tiny fringe group of treasonous conspiracy theorists and bigots are effectively controlling the province’s government.
That petition drive for a non-binding referendum for Alberta to STAY in Canada is now verified.
One in 7 Alberta voters signed it.
Wow, did Lukaszuk's bid worked. Lessee how Danielle Smith gov handles it.

The USA economy is 10x larger than Canada’s so it’s hard for Canada to do things they notice in this existential fight.

US alcohol bans are one thing they notice.

It’s no coincidence that the 2 provinces without US alcohol bans are AB and SK - both run by #MapleMAGA.

Keep it up, everyone else.
"Premier Wab Kinew showed no willingness Friday to relax his province's ban on American alcohol products. He argued the prohibition, enacted by several provinces, has been one of Canada's responses to the U.S. trade dispute the Trump administration has noticed."

Canada needs to shield ourselves from the US as much as possible as quickly as possible, before it implodes into civil war.
Because America is spiraling downwards at a terrifying rate.
I've had a missile blow up next to my airplane, been shot at dozens of times by anti-aircraft fire, and launched into orbit — all for my country. I never thought I'd see a President call for my execution.

Trump doesn’t understand the Constitution, and we're all less safe for it.

I’ve worked with a lot of journalists. Mostly they’re underpaid, overworked and trying their best.
Politicians like Trump and Poilievre who denigrate them do so because they don’t want legitimate journalism - they want sycophantic propaganda like Fox, Rebel News and Western Standard.
I mean, look, I'm not a reporter, so who am I to talk?

But on a day where the president both just called a woman reporter "Piggy" and is celebrating someone who had people bone saw apart one of my colleagues, I might just be a little ready to defend my colleagues and profession.

But that's just me

As a veteran (21 years Regular CF) I’m disgusted anyone would disrupt a Remembrance Day ceremony.

It makes you look horrible.
