What started as a very interesting plot about a tree restoration creating supernatural events dwindled out very fast for me.

Short story writers, how long do you give your story to 'settle' before you start submitting it for anthologies etc?
I am preparing to make my first submission and resisting the urge to just submit straight away, figure its good to re read after some time to get 'fresh' eyes?
