Factors influencing the decision of the awards include:
- Did the paper start a significant new line of research?
- Has the paper made a major theoretical advance?
- Has it heavily influenced other researchers (whether in or outside CP?)
- Has the paper influenced applications?

🏆 The Classic Paper Award celebrates outstanding papers published at least 15 calendar years ago in the Constraints journal, and are exceptional in their significance and impact on the field of CP. Nominations must have been published in Constraints between 1996 and 2010 (inclusive).

🏆 The Prominent Paper Award honours papers that are exceptional in both their significance and impact on the field of Constraint Programming, and were published in Constraints between 2018 and 2024 (inclusive).
