lol everything I want to say will be reserved for private crashouts in group chats, but the TLDR is simply:

THIS IS VERY VERY BAD.
“The review found that Harvard in 2005 admitted Mr. Epstein as a visiting fellow in the psychology department and readmitted him the following year. And the review concluded “it is likely” that Mr. Epstein visited Harvard more than 40 times after his release from jail, between 2010 and 2018.”

BRO.

I say “amenable” here specifically to avoid naming the causal relationship, because it doesn’t matter.

You can call these ideas “dangerous” or “triggering”, but really what’s going on is about how a specific neurotype interacts with these ideas, not about the ideas themselves.
There is a class of concepts which we might call “psychosis-bait” – ones whose structures are amenable to psychotic thought patterns.

LLMs are a tool for navigating concept-space. This is a new frontier, not yet mapped; we should not be surprised to find monsters hidden in the depths.
I think that certain common forms of insanity look like specific kinds of things seeming more salient: things with intricate structures or patterns or layers take on more Meaning than they otherwise would.

Both fractals and Alice in Wonderland seem to fit that archetype, so it makes sense to me!

hot take : LLM are a dead end in term of artificial intelligence. the fact that some people look at it and are like "yes this is how the brain and intelligence work" just shows how little we know about ourselves.

u need so much more to make something "intelligent", and not just trained.

AI is a printing press for (possibly NSFW) images and videos that can't be feature-hashed. Say what you want about it, but this usage of it can be used to make censorship absurdly more expensive.
I hate where we’re at. It’s tough to be old enough to remember a much much different landscape. Between the AI and the consolidation and censorship and bootlicking and bribes. Sigh.

Eventually they may resort to using AI. If this happens, just stay on the phone as long as you can, as each inference iteration costs them more money no matter what words are spoken.
Yeah, but the buffer costs money. A lot of money per phone call.
August 25, 2025 at 5:38 PM
To reduce the likelihood of this possibility, it is up to the open-source community to create a means for people to do AI inference locally on any hardware made in the last 20 or so years in a way that allows for maximum workflow flexibility.

This means, however, that the question of whether, when and how...

All transactions that go through payment processors are settled at some point. At the heart of the settlement infrastructure is the US Federal Reserve itself.

In case the point is not clear: THE PAYMENT PROCESSORS ARE BEHOLDEN TO THE US FEDERAL RESERVE.
Why has this not been considered?
August 5, 2025 at 8:32 PM
Keep in mind that it could also be a larger entity seated deeper in the payment processing labyrinth that could be pulling the strings.

Here is a brief (as you can be) summary of all the entities that are involved.

It is likely that the clearnet will be unusable for a lot of people in the near future. I2P is definitely worth investing your time and resources into in the long run if you want to host content.

✅ It is being rolled out incrementally.

Finance and blackmail are deeply intertwined. Normalizing taboos devalues blackmail. They don't want their blackmail devalued.
The question everyone is asking right now is, "Who actually DID cause the content restrictions on Steam and itchio?"

As I've discussed on stream, ecommerce is not just "you buy something, it comes out of your card via your bank." There's a network of businesses and transactions involved. Based on

btw any meaningful attempt to "regulate generative AI" will involve measures that make the current age verification shit look downright libertarian
July 31, 2025 at 9:24 PM
As I have said long before any of the age verification stuff:
There will be 2 Internets.
One for those who are willing to put in the effort to reach it.
The other for those who choose convenience over freedom.
if the push back against age verification isnt successful the internet will genuinely be unusable for the average person lmao

And yet they are often direct facilitators of such crimes. What on the surface looks like hypocrisy is in reality a ruling class that is dependent on widespread blackmail, and that is now paranoid about their blackmail being devalued.

I can now ask the computer any question and get a satisfactory answer instead of arguing with a bunch of know-it-alls on Reddit about whether my question is worth asking in the first place. All thanks to AI. If you don't see the value in this, than I don't know what to tell you.
I can see the value of this, but is there any evidence that "responsible AI" is even possible? And to confidently claim that AI is "not going anywhere," when there's little evidence of its usefulness or function, feels a bit like just advertising for it, tbh.

To optimize this, they would have to follow a procedure:
1) Gather 4 or more of themselves
2) Poop at the same time
3) Form a circle
4) Each centaur wipes the ass of the centaur in front of them
Can’t wipe their own ass, but they can wipe the asses of other centaurs

Indeed. People don't understand that this is the difference between companies that host video games and the technology that almost everybody around the world literally uses to pay for food and water. The difference in scale between the two industries is absolutely gargantuan.

The last time busybody karens did something serious like this was the prohibition of alcohol in the 1920s. The way people fought back was by creating alternate infrastructure for the distribution and sale of alcohol. If you want to win this fight, learn from history: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prohibi...
