Hey Doug! If I was a voter I’d go Bonds, Clemens, and Kent. I’d like to just get some of these obvious guys in and settled with.

I’d also try to read the room and if, say, Kent has no chance at election but someone like Murphy does I’d go Murphy.

Wouldn’t it be 2029? If this committee meets every 3 years and in the event they get sub-5 this cycle?

The Hall’s reply: “The new rules begin this fall, so any results prior to 2025 do not apply to these rules.”

I just emailed the Hall to ask for clarification on this.

Very, very bad rule and, if held in place, I would bet that individuals from early black baseball and the Negro Leagues will likely become an oversized percentage of those made ineligible as a result.

This ballot consists of those whose greatest contributions came as a player from 1980 to the present.
