But I also sometimes see people saying things that imply that the right kinds of people would take BRT, when they wouldn't take the POBS (Plain Old Bus System), which makes me quite uncomfortable.
core2idiot.bsky.social
I like the targets set out by the ITDP, frequently served routes, on dedicated rights of way with priority over other vehicles. I like a lot of the BRT projects I see, and many of them have increased ridership by >50% when compared to prior routes.

I have this, likely fictitious, memory of someone saying "They gentrified the bus. They gentrified the goddam bus."

So I made a friend on Reddit, that put me in a situation on Twitter that pushed me to bike across Iowa. I'm pretty happy with that experience on social media 😁

More recently the friend moved away but I still am thankful for the ramp that he gave me into Raleigh and the help he gave me to find a place here.

In the search for Urban Advocates on Twitter, I ended up adding a bunch of Chicago bike advocates. In 2023, they decided to do RAGBRAI together and since I'd been participating in their discussions, I decided to do it too.

He also told me that I should get on Twitter since that's where the urban advocates were. So I repurposed a Twitter account I'd made for a policy change my high school did, to be my personal Twitter account.

In late 2022, I moved to Raleigh. In the process I saw someone with a bike related name post on Reddit. I sent him a dm, asking if there's anything I should checkout once I moved. He and I started to chat, and became friends and he introduced me to the bar scene, which I'd been curious about.

Has anything great happened in your life because of social media?

It's understandable that the feds would want to be paid back if they funded part of a project that doesn't get built but if a bad project gets built in order to placate the feds, that's also bad.
core2idiot.bsky.social
Our system often forces people to build projects they don't want because otherwise the federal government will make them pay.

Nothing happened at the September meeting of the Northwest Louisiana Council of Governments. And future sessions on the I-49 Inner City Connector were cancelled, too.

But is this highway project really dead?

My relationship with Portland is way too much affected by being financially constrained while I lived there and idolizing it as a kid...

Ugh, I wanted to play with RoCm on my server but the GPU is literally too big for my server 😭

They might be classified as mandatory workers, so they work without getting paid. The president has a lot of latitude about what workers have to work during a shutdown.

Here's the thing I feel better than when I drive but I also feel more stressed about mobility. I kinda knew I'd feel this way. I'm walking more and feel like I'm in less of a bubble.
core2idiot.bsky.social
Agreed, but I would still rather people walk, bike, roll or take transit than drive an EV
core2idiot.bsky.social
Ergo why it should be considerably cheaper to own and operate an EV than an ICE car?
core2idiot.bsky.social
Why? EVs use the road as well and roads need to be paid for. Driving an ICE Car should always be more expensive than driving an EV but driving an EV should also be expensive.

Yup, kids themselves are property of their parents and the parents can do anything they want to them, as long as they're obeying the brand of Christian Nationalism they agree with 😇
