I've seen a lot of chatter on this so I want to share my experiences, since I've had...many lol.
I started this as my full time job at 19. I was living on my own with a partner, we shared a car and my job paid $7.25 an hour. I quit to freelance, since it couldn't be WORSE. We had no savings. CONT.

Many full time creatives have “invisible safety nets” like bread-winning partners, trust funds, external support, etc. No shame on anyone, but it creates a false vision of success. The cost of going to cons alone on top of hoping to eat as a freelancer are untenable, IMO.
When people hear that I'm returning to part time work they often ask "are things not going well with your art?"
The problem really is things are going well, but the world is so unstable that I long for some consistency and income that I don't have to pay quarterly taxes on

OOPS.... today was a kitty day instead of a work day, u know how it goes!! Unfortunately no microchip, so I guess I have a pal for a little while! 😻
Found this hungry goober eating trash outside my work last night, got her inside the shop and away from the busy street. @jaycostumes.bsky.social and Hannu just happened to be nearby and safely delivered her to @corgilegs.pizza (who fosters cats!) to scan for (hopefully) a microchip 🤞
