As terrible accidents begin to befall those closest to her, she can't help but wonder:
Is she possessed or just pissed?

From the time I was a child, I was taught to be agreeable.
Kind.
Quiet.
Showing emotions other than gratitude or cheerfulness was frowned upon. It was as if the adults knew that if little girls tapped into the frustration, the seething anger, the screaming resentment burrowing deep in our little chests before we could even articulate the injustices, the leering eyes, the condescension, and the double-standards feeding the flames, we would become too powerful.
So instead, they shamed us for our outbursts.
Told us we were out of control.
Hysterical.
Crazy.
Weak.
In return, we learned to control our fires, even as the men around us punched walls and screamed, exerting their emotions like powerful weapons to wield. But those sparks in our chests were never fully extinguished, and for some of us, they were left smouldering unattended while dangerous, mischievous kindling, carelessly strewn about, smiled as it caught flame.
