Millennials didnt grow up w/ a societal embracing of the internet. There were LOTS of guardrails in the form of:

- computer classes teaching what REAL sources were (.org, .net, .com differences, what BLOGS were and how they werent news)
- safety classes about predators & the internet being FOREVER

The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

Imma need some of you to think about thriving out of spite. I had big plans for 2025 and I’m definitely not gonna pre-derail them for likes of Elin and Tromp. I’m getting more involved. Loving harder. Writing hornier. Having more fun. I’m gonna be so kind to my neighbors, bitch.

@tiredoldyarnho.bsky.social Hi! Looks like you got here only a day or two ago. Here’s a tip sheet I was given a week ago when I joined. It should help you get up and running, find some old people and some new people, and get connected.

Quote and tell me, because I’m curious to know: what book that you are currently reading would you recommend?

I’ll start: Adam Smyth’s The Book Makers. Such a lively history of mostly fragmentarily known lives of book people.

The backstory to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein puts unrealistic expectations on how much work you can accomplish in a vacation house.

I don't know who needs to hear this, everyone I think, but if you send a PDF to your kindle and put 'convert' as the subject it will change it to epub format for you, you're welcome

(I posted this on the other place and was surprised by how many people it helped so thought I'd do it here too.)

Life is short. Write that novel. Paint that painting. Try new recipes. Learn black magic. Go into the forest at night. Summon a demon. Earn that demon's trust. Become best friends with it. Brag to everyone else about your new cool demon best friend. Knit that sweater.

If anyone’s looking for alternatives to GoodReads, I highly recommend StoryGraph. It’s owned by a black woman, and the platform is so much more accessible and easy to use.
