anyways tl;dr a few people aint building a real alternative to Sentry, and while it might work for some simplistic use cases, it will break down often and fast

better off using the best tools for the job while you have the choice tbqh - posthog might be that for PA, sentry is that for app telemetry

I think the main concern is "what do you actually need". You need errors day one. What else do you need?

We're not going to build infinite checkboxes the barely work, but we will own the entire telemetry side, and likely expand into "whats 'not working' in the product" (not general annalytics).

I think one major issue here though is why is PH a huge client dep to do product analytics? We never had issues w/ GA, Plausible, Amplitude etc on the SDK size level.

Sentry is sort of understood why its got a minimum size requirement. Agree duplicating behavior is wasteful.

We might - you can sort of do it today. I dont wanna be in that business broadly speaking (e.g. no desire to build Amplitude).

Problems are hard in all spaces, and we're evidence that even errors are really hard to do well. Easy to solve a simple use case, hard to scale.

yep see the gist attached to byk's post

Main issue is noise - lots of errors are not actual bugs

I’ve found it really good in typescript. UI is a bit too non obvious but otherwise has been pretty spot on for me

I mostly just rely on its typeahead. I find it mostly a time saver there. Have used composer when I needed big new boilerplate but I think codegen is often more time consuming to tweak and review than it’s worth.

I will have to look again - I got one for my wife (and one of those tiny Elgato mics) and I couldn't get it balanced. Might have just been user error though.

I've used this one in the past and it's been great. Only had issues when the weight of the Mic wasnt enough for the tensioner.
