generally my opinion on homeschooling is "if you're an extremely educated person who can certainly provide a richer curriculum than any school available for your children, go on ahead. if the homeschooling co-op calls the teachers "ferrymen" or whatever, it needs to be raided by SWAT"

he got so mad when he talked about how much of an uphill battle that kid was fighting, how people here are so poisoned by hatred they don't even see him and others like him as children in need of help, or children at all, i was as overjoyed as i was in pain at hearing those words

his teachers treated him with contempt, the other kids, even the non-white ones, didn't want anything to do with him, his dad was an awful person, the boy himself was impossible, but he didn't care. the first person in my life i had ever heard refer to them as human beings

i went to an occupational therapist a few years ago and i instinctually braced for the worst when he brought up Romani; to my surprise he began talking about a young Sinti boy he had under his care and the difficulties he encountered at school and home and that no one else had ever asked him about
