That's almost certainly the cause. I figured I was missing something obvious, so thank you! A further conclusion I would draw then is that there's probably more variance in the Cy Young shares. Just eyeballing the two lists I think the MVP list better correlates to overall career value.

The fact that there's such a discrepancy in the leaders' values suggests something interesting about how voting patterns and/or career arcs vary across these two populations, but I would have to ponder awhile to tease out exactly what it means
