By repeating his clear lie that they were "suspected of transporting narcotics" without making it clear that this is clearly a lie, you are doing journalistic malpractice.

Yes he did.
He was only able to do that because 2 Democratic presidents before him refused to abolish an agency that was known to be cruel and rogue even when it was on the loosest of leashes.

You'll do well to remember that many civil rights organizations have been calling to abolish ICE since it was first created by Bush and instead both Obama and Biden made it more powerful and shielded it from consequences while Dem leaders mocked & ignored these calls.

Wrong.
Obama was the one that initially put Tom Homan in-charge of ICE and even gave him a presidential medal for the glee with which he deported people.

While he didn't fully embrace Homan's separation policy, ICE has long acted as a rogue agency & practiced abusive behavior without consequence.

His administration also committed crimes against humanity through the drone program he expanded by targeting and killing hundreds of people and marking any male over 15 as a "enemy killed in action".

He then imprisoned the whistleblower, Daniel Hale, & handed that deadly program over to Trump
