So, I saw a pic of RFK Jr, and as happens sometimes I got this, “why does this look so familiar” feeling that you get when you know that feeling has nothing to do with all the other images of this person. It took some time but here it is: Rudy Bagman, manger of the California Raisins.

A little late but I noticed today that this is no longer open. Apparently it was part of Bed Bath and Beyond which filed for bankruptcy in 2023. I always felt it encapsulated our cultural relationship to infants (especially “pro-life” narratives and pre-birth matching adoption) incredibly well. 🥚

DEBT 1 46 We have perhaps a general principle: to make something saleable, in a human economy, one needs to first rip it from its context. That's what slaves are: people stolen from the community that made them what they are. As strangers to their new communities, slaves no longer had mothers, fathers, kin of any sort. This is why they could be bought and sold or even killed: because the only relation they had was to their owners.
