Those armored ducks can be a pain in the butt sometimes!

Now I watch the video and I feel like reducing the amount of hits the basic enemies take to die from 3 to 2 would make it less tedious lol

Some progress in making platformer levels less crappy, theres a lot to do but it already feels better than in previous builds, just a matter of balancing numbers and fixing bugs

In Witches and Butchers there will be an unlockable alt skill for each character
Our funny elf Clarissa's alt skill is... certainly a choice.

(Probably a placeholder, probably not, who knows)

Now that I think about it, There are few GBC games with a cooking/crafting system, now I get why, had to add a "Loading" sequence when displaying recipe ingredients otherwise the gameboy couldnt keep with it .

For #screenshotsaturday I'm sharing some UI improvements, Merchants and shops now can sell recipes, now when cooking food and leaving the screen it will ask you if you want to go to the inventory and eat the food.
Cooking screen can display up to 5 ingredients now.

In the future I will make guides on how actually read and write memory using godotboy, as well as sharing my modified version of the emulator that makes use of the memory for different features
cuurian.lobosandia.com.mx
The tool tells you where to get the required files from the project, after "uploading: them (Everything is done locally, nothing is actually uploaded anywhere) and clicking the start button you can select any variable from the populated dropdown and then copy the address provided
cuurian.lobosandia.com.mx
What is this for?
This tool is for devs who want to wrap their gb studio games with an emulator such as GodotBoy, Binjgb or Gameboy Online, and require the memory addresses of the game variables to read or write them from the emulator
cuurian.lobosandia.com.mx
I have been working on a web based tool named "HexMaster5000" that calculates memory addresses of variables in gb studio games. I'll explain the use case in the replies.

In following days ill release the source code on my github page

It's one of those "Raw buggy gameplay that makes the poor game boy color slow down to a crawl" videos, This is going to be one of the late game dungeons.

Probably should turn off the scanline fx lol

Like the stuff I added to Godotboy, I also plan to share the code and tool with everyone once I make the code less messy and easy to integrate with any gb studio project and not only my own one like right now.
cuurian.lobosandia.com.mx
I also noticed that getting the memory values from a gb studio game is a really manual process and its easy to get confused, I'm currently working on a web based tool where one has to upload the game .map and game_globals i file and it will calculate the addresses of any variables
cuurian.lobosandia.com.mx
Yeah, I gotta admit, when you told me in an itch comment about the read and write to memory functions i had hours and hours of fun trying to figure out how it worked, and also had to follow guides meant for a different emulator lol.

Sure thing, once I fix my code to make it less tied to my particular project would be nice to merge it with Godotboy

I'm mainly focusing on border support and being able to configure emulator settings (such as Fullscreen toggle, shaders, etc) from inside the running game
cuurian.lobosandia.com.mx
Now i added an options menu inside the game that interfaces with the emulator for stuff like changing borders, this is fun
cuurian.lobosandia.com.mx
I'm working a lot on the emulator that will be used on the steam release of the game, based on GodotBoy, I added features like border support, and i'm able to read the emulated game's memory and show variables in a HUD on the top left

As usual when the progress I make in the game is more in the "under the hood" category, I just like to share a random gameplay footage of Witches and Butchers

But I agree with you, if one makes a game based entirely around the culture of certain country that most people dont know already, it will make people go away because they will feel like they must understand the culture to fully enjoy the game or something similar.
cuurian.lobosandia.com.mx
In my case, I'm making a game that it would appear to be a regular fantasy setting, but I wanted to sprinkle touches of northern Mexico here and there, in place names, food names, and so on, maybe one person or two will feel curious about certain things, but will not drive out unfamilizarized people
cuurian.lobosandia.com.mx
Keeping with the tradition of showing raw buggy footage, this is an attempt to make platformer levels suck less, theres an enemy type that follows you around, falls off cliffs and even jumps, it's very janky but for now it's the best I can do lol.

Showing some improvements to certain menus in Witches and Butchers. In the Inventory, now you can see faces of the party members showing how much they like certain food, affecting the stats they provide, also now theres an ingredient list!
