The fact that Mongo is still around baffles me though. I wonder if Stripe still uses it. That was always a head scratcher.

I don’t think key/value stores or eventual consistency went anywhere (nor should they, because they have their place). The nosql branding and the incredibly bad advice to use it for everything definitely did.
