Well, that's my evening, then.
TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

Apart from the strangeness of the language - "non-biological people" sounds like a woke term for AIs in Black Mirror - this makes clear that Baroness Falkner came into her job at the EHRC believing that the net amount of human rights in the UK was too high, and that her job was to lower that amount.
Kishwer Falkner in The Times talking about the rights of "biological people". As compared to trans people, who are, of course, non-biological.

@davidmbarnett.bsky.social rightly looks askance at the use of "bravely" to describe people living with/fighting cancer, but this is, undeniably, brave writing. All best wishes to him, and huge credit to the NHS.

Quick and very unscientific straw poll - does anyone have the Observer as a regular part of their media mix, currently? Has the change of ownership made you more or less likely to seek it out? Are you getting links to it from your peers?
