To be fair, they wouldn’t be able to do it, if it wasn’t for those individuals who are more than happy to give them money for their products.

Considering the number of available alternative, I put the onus primarily on the consumer.

What challenges exactly? I’ve been vegan for more than 2 decades AND I adopted the philosophy when living in a developing country…vastly different from your developed country.

No they‘re not! They require feed, which requires land use change. Predator species are exterminated to ensure that they’re don’t impact chickens in their exploitation facilities…AND they’re massive drivers of zoonotic diseases which impact wildlife dramatically.

Let’s apply the dilemma you’re attempting to propose, to humans. Say an orphanage is overcrowded, no one wants the children and it’s not safe for them to be set free…is the best option “kill them”?

The zoo is responsible for these animals, they should bear the brunt of the cost of making space.
