Everyone wondered this about the second film. It made $2.3 billion.

But, this will be an interesting test. Box office takings are down across the board, the sure thing franchises aren't doing well. Will Avatar fail?

Probably not. But if it does, the blockbuster era might be well and truly over.
James Cameron is confident 'Avatar: Fire & Ash' will make money — but says he’ll stop making more films if it flops

“I’ve been in Avatar land for 20 years ... If this is where it ends, cool"

It cost a 'fuck ton' to make and needs to make 'two fuck tons' to be profitable

I've got a totally free weekend and there's nothing to see at the cinema.

Two great films. One average. One bad.

Can't really argue with that.

This planet needs a Godzilla sized event. Just wipe us out.

Couldn't afford the Lego Entreprise, but I did buy something in a sale today, that I have wanted for many, many years, not Lego though.

Season 1 has 27 episodes!

27!

These days you'd be lucky for an entire show's run to be that long.
It might be snow and subzero temperatures outside, but they've just added The O.C back onto Prime... So

There is nothing worse than the codename theory.

And here's the fundamental conceit that original post gets wrong, they aren't playing the same man, just the same character.

That's not the same thing.
No. The correct way to understand this is to stop trying to make things fit together. You can watch different people playing Sherlock Holmes, in entirely different stories, without trying to make it add up. Stories are a dressing up box, not a jigsaw.

This isn't new information to anyone though. We know. People bring it up all the time.

But, Quentin, mate, I love your films but they're almost always homages to something else, indirectly or very fucking directly sometimes.

Nothing is actually original.

Gamera's 60th anniversary today.

I hope in vain for some announcement about a new film, as there hasn't been one for nearly 20 years.

Gamera is considered a lesser kaiju to Godzilla but just watch the Heisei Trilogy, and you'll see, Gamera is just as good, if not better.

Like the look of this.

Great cast, and the director previously did Emily the Criminal which was excellent.

Is there anything more subjective than comedy?

I don't mind that film being at #1 at all.

I do mind that there's no animated films on the list though. That's weird.
The movie listed at #1 is so incredibly misplaced that it calls into question the veracity of the entire list. It belongs on the list, yes, but SO MUCH further down. An absolute, credibility-wrecking flub. Boo, @variety.com! Boo!
