I think that CE came out after the KS -- I only have two copies of the KS edition I'm afraid.

I think maybe the book was a choice to add in. I actually have two copies of this, one with a rip along the hinge, & one they sent to replace it!

I have both the CEs, but unfortunately I was an early recipient of the WotR one & the statue broke during shipping due to poor packaging/handling. I've subsequently replaced it.

I'll share a little secret... I loved Dragon Commander! What a janky game. Had so much fun though.

I've played it several times, once to utter completion. It's uneven as heck, but does a great job of creating a fun, sandbox-like world.
