Only cases such as murder and rape or offences carrying sentence longer than three years would face jury under plans

It's official. Die Hard is not a Christmas film. (Movie if you're in the US). Glad that's settled. Next: was the Ford Capri a good car? The jury's out.

"Starmer selectively quoted the £16bn number from the productivity review without acknowledging that it was only one part of the story. That seems pretty misleading to me."

Yes. Because Starmer is a liar whose lies don't stop. He can't do anything without lying about it

Is Starmer continuing to mislead public over the budget?
The reasons the government has decided to raise taxes are perfectly logical, even if some will disagree on their wisdom. But what's misleading is how the prime minister and chancellor have attempted t...

The answer is to properly resource the court system, not to abolish trial by jury. Lammy is a liar. #SaveOurJuries
David Lammy seems to be trying to scare women into agreeing with ending jury trials, claiming it will convict more rapists.
Blaming juries won’t fix the problem and blaming women if they don’t agree with him, looks like coercion of already frightened women
Grim!

People in #Gaza need an unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid.

While UNRWA is ready to deliver shelter supplies for up to 1.3 million people, the Israeli Authorities continue to block the Agency from bringing aid in.

The scale of UNRWA's work in Gaza must be restored to its fullest capacity.

Let it never be forgotten that Biden is known as 'genocide Joe' for a reason. The devastation of Gaza and the deaths of 70,000 people are down to him and his arming of the genocidal state of Israel. He said he was 'proud', but he looks like a war criminal to me. #TheHague #Indict

Just for absolute clarity, the government’s proscription of Palestine Action is a self-evident farce, deeply unethical and morally bankrupt. It is an unforgivable waste of time and resources, and makes them look both deeply unserious and as ideologically compromised as they clearly are.

Wow. Zarah Sultana is certainly fiery. Calling for Starmer, Lammy & Mahmood to be indicted for complicity in war crimes as they "sleep between silk sheets in their blood-soaked mansions"; calling for the abolition of the monarchy and a total boycott of the apartheid and genocidal state of Israel."

Did Reeves lie about the 'black hole'? Was there ever a black hole? Reeves has a long history of lying, so we can judge. Meanwhile, Starmer says it's about time they got on with doing something. He's 'vowing' to tackle what he was elected for nearly 18 months ago.

Fresh from meddling in the Palestine Action case and getting the judge replaced, Starmer's government also wants to abolish the right to a jury trial for most cases. The UK is sliding into the abyss. Democracy and the rule of law are in peril. Fascism is on the rise.
