Kinda sad I only have 1 day in Osaka because this feels like a much more me compatible city than Tokyo is

I’m extremely ready to go home on Tuesday, but pretty much everywhere I’ve been and everyone I’ve met this trip has been so incredibly friendly.

It’s gonna be weird to go back to Berlin, where the mood of the people matches the weather.

The worst thing to come out of the pandemic, for me personally, is the dropping the autism mask because trying to build it back up is torture :(

@jesslynnrose.bsky.social Japan advice 😅

Last time I was in Japan I only saw Tokyo - and mostly in the city.

I’m probably going to be on Niijima for a week next month and want to spend a week somewhere else too - Osaka? (it’s way cheaper to fly there than Tokyo rn too)

it’s very much an “I want to disappear into a hole and either write a database or never emerge” kinda week.

Not sure which I’m gonna go for.

I just taught my last glassblowing class, and tallied up that I've taught _90_ people this summer, which is absolutely wild - but it's been an incredible experience to guide folks through working with a material that I fell in love with so much 😍

Making use of some of my recent practice goblets - they’re getting better! (Opening vessels on the torch is definitely still not my strong suit, but getting better!)

I really struggled to shape this one, and was definitely a “what can you save” effort - the blue turned to butter, and the stiff cane combination made it want to get weird fast.

I think I know how to make this go better next time though - and that’s what counts 😅

It’s been a long time since I wrote a blog post rather than a talk - but in architecting our platforms to run “anywhere” - I spent a lot of time thinking about “minimal” footprints… and made some interesting discoveries. Mostly that #SQLite is still pretty awesome.

SQLite is Edge-Scale
Thoughts on SQLite over traditional databases for distributed control planes - how SQLite's reliability, performance, and edge computing advantages make it a powerful alternative to complex distribute...

Applications open on Sunday for a class I really want to take in Japan in October, and although I'm woefully underqualified so assuming I'm gonna get rejected, I'm already anxious about waiting to hear back 😭🥲

(A week of glass class with one of my fav artists would be so incredible thoooo)

What are folks using for #OCI registries (and registry caching proxies or fan-out replication) these days - especially with large numbers of clients?

I made a new #vase! Still playing with the idea of various flowing forms. This orange on black was loosely inspired by the idea of flowing lava.

Cannot wrap my head around people pissed at Itch for not suing Visa & MC. Not only would they not have a chance in hell for too many reasons to enumerate before my battery dies, but also this is not, in the year of our lord 2025, the “bad press” for Visa and Mastercard that some posters think it is.

I’ve made a bunch of little mini vases to practice random shapes lately and they’ve been super fun to do (but oh god I am running out of places to put glass)
