the meme that it's environmentalists blocking clean energy is an reality-spinning lie roughly on par with the idea that gas is a climate solution, in just how obscenely wrong it is, but how confidently it's stated, and how widely it's believed by dumb-smart-guys
Here’s an another example of what I posted about this morning.

Did Spanish environmentalists have an iron grip on power from 2012-18, before being rounded up and sent to the Canary Islands so solar PV could flourish?

[No, a right-wing govt effectively banned solar power.]

Absolutely amazing: they've got so much solar in Australia that they need more people to use more of it, so the gov't has instructed energy retailers to offer *at least three hours of free power* during the middle of the day.

Meanwhile fossil-addled US struggles with an energy-price crisis ...
Energy retailers to be directed to offer free power three hours a day
Saying there is enough solar power for everyone in the daytime, Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen will direct retailers to provide three hours of free power every day to consumers.

Social media should be designed to deliver facts to the population, and allow decision making by them. The way to do this is to tie it directly to the scientific body of literature - pour the thoughts of your people upon the reality of the world, and they improve it through democratic decisions.

🧵 Awful awful massacre in Brazil
Gente, é o maior massacre no Brasil desde o Araguaia.

Bill Gates hasn’t made sense on Climate since he teamed up with Bjorn Lomberg in 2009. This is just a restating of Bjorn’s book from this year about how we have a finite amount of money and we shouldn’t use it for climate. What they get wrong is that climate solutions are now fully profitable.
Bill Gates has a new memo out calling for a “strategic pivot” on climate change, downplaying “doomsday” talk to focus on filling enormous post-USAID budget gaps in global health and vaccine funding. I got an early glimpse of his thinking last week:
