I'm pleased to see that Marc Maron is in top form in today's New York Times interview.

Album #69: FKA TWIGS - LP1 (2014). Relentlessly inventive. There is classic R&B at the core of this material, but it bends and shifts like its final form is determined by a funhouse mirror melting in the sun. At its best, there's Kate Bush–level ingenuity here. Fave track this time: "Two Weeks"

Album #68: BLUE RODEO - Outskirts (1987). A splendid set of roots rock songs, all of them earthy enough to grow crops in. In this remarkably assured debut, Blue Rodeo come across as the rightful successors to fellow Canadians the Band. That's very high praise. Fave track this time: "Underground"

Album #67: TALKING HEADS - Fear of Music (1979). The music is so thrillingly bizarre while also adhering to tried-and-true pop song structures. Every track feels like a daring exploration of possibility, and the band is fiercely locked in the whole way. Fave track this time: "Paper"

Album #66: THE ICICLE WORKS - If You Want To Defeat Your Enemy Sing His Song (1987). It's filled with sharp pop-rock songs that fully lock into their era: slick, big, and ruthlessly catchy. The band delivers the material with a swagger that rivals Julian Cope. Fave track this time: "Evangeline"

Album #65: MIKAL CRONIN - MCII (2013). There's an easygoing quality that's present even when a song is propulsive or layered. It often comes across like vintage Matthew Sweet with the power part of the power pop dialed back to find a more pure tone. Fave track this time: "I'm Done Running from You"

Album #64: LAURA NYRO - New York Tendaberry (1969). On this album, Laura Nyro is simultaneously part of a tradition of stripped-back folk rock and entirely singular. Her vocals are extraordinary, conveying novel-level quantities of emotion in a line or two. Fave track this time: "Save the Country"

Album #63: MITSKI - Puberty 2 (2016). It's no wonder this was a commercial and critical breakthrough for Mitski. The album is raw and majestic at the same time, like PJ Harvey reared on orchestral pop rather than punk rock. It's piercing, noisy, and grand. Fave track this time: "A Loving Feeling"

I wasn't trying to chastise you! Those stars a very small in the screen shot.

Acknowledging that it's only in the past couple years that I've been exhaustive about tracking films using Letterboxd, there are indeed a few films for which I've gone down to only one star.
