Congratulations Elisabetta Barberio on being awarded the Italian Bilateral Scientific Cooperation Award by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

It recognises a commitment to international collaboration, and the knowledge that in science, we are more together. 🧪

The SABRE South #darkmatter experiment has reached an exciting milestone with the arrival of a glovebox in the Stawell Underground Physics Lab.

Scientists will use the glovebox to protect the experiment's ultra-pure crystals from exposure to air, which would cause them to degrade. 💎🧪

Imagine being able to 'see' through solid rock. Federico Scutti is developing a technology that uses particles from space, or muons, to do exactly that.

New funding from Australia's Economic Accelerator aims to help turn this fundamental science into a tangible product for the mining industry. 🧪

Hello! We're the Dark Matter Centre in Australia and we're a collaboration of universities from across the country working to understand #darkmatter. One surprising place we're looking for dark matter is in a gold mine in regional Victoria! We love engaging with the science community on Bluesky!

Considered the 'sun's messengers' neutrinos are ghostly particles that rarely interact with normal matter.

In Pursuit, physicists explain how the study of neutrinos through the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment is uncovering the sun's inner workings.

Neutrinos are the Sun’s secret messengers
Once thought undetectable, huge underground experiments are unlocking the nature of ghostly particles called neutrinos, which could be the key to a deeper understanding of what is happening inside the...

We had an excellent #SciComm discussion yesterday at Swinburne uni, with a superstar panel including @astrokatie.com @sarawebbscience.bsky.social and @astrokirsten.bsky.social. Hosted by Prof. Alan Duffy.

Great insights from these folks!

Thanks to @ozgrav.bsky.social & @darkmatteraus.bsky.social

We joined @astrokatie.com of @perimeterinstitute.ca and @spaceaustralia.com's Rami Mandow at the Stawell Underground Physics Lab today. Dr Mack was involved with the lab when it was no more than a big idea. Now, it is a state-of-the-art facility soon to host the SABRE South #darkmatter experiment.🧪

Welcome to the journey of the SABRE South vessel into the Stawell Underground Physics Lab!

The mighty vessel will be transported from Swinburne into the pristine lab in coming months.

Scientists will then start taking data they hope will reveal the presence of #darkmatter particles. Stay tuned ..🧪

From 1km underground to the other side of the globe, we had a blast in our Beyond the Stars event.

Teachers and students joined us for a live glimpse of the Stawell Underground Physics Lab.

It was part of a collaboration to give teachers the tools to teach #astronomy and #darkmatter science. 🧪
Three educators in the Stawell Underground Physics Lab prepare to livestream the event. Science educators dressed in hi-vis prepare to head down into the underground lab.
