Yup! Same, same. The default always seems to be "why don't you just go buy a car?" Well, they are flipping expensive to own and operate, not always practical when living in an urban setting, and maybe the soul-crushing car traffic is just not something everyone wants to participate in 😉

True. But robots don't keep passengers in line when trying to force open the doors 😂 Yesterday, the LRT operator went to town over the loud speaker to berate the passenger!
I wonder if the REM uses the same tech as Vancouver's Sky train? I guess it was an Ontario company that created this tech.

Is this the REM? I heard that fewer train cars were decided upon to reduce the cost of the stations with long platforms and instead have shorter trains with more frequency for the same capacity. I was thinking about this last evening waiting 11 min for Ottawa's super long LRT to arrive.

Is there any coordination by staff/ councillors in Ottawa & Ontario municipalities to have this overturned? This impacts so many people including seniors, children, adults who don't drive or who don't want to, people with disabilities. And doesn't it impact our provincially approved official plan?

100% there have been great things like these standards. We need to move past focusing on painted lanes and set priorities in the budget that move us forward with protected mobility lanes that are designed for, and maintained for year-round use. We could be making the top of this list!

Yes, there is very little in the way of dedicated protected cycling facilities here in Ottawa. There are many recreational paths that can get used by those on bikes, but there are so many cities in Canada that are progressing leaps and bounds beyond Ottawa (Victoria, Edmonton, Quebec City, Montreal).
