This morning I met with members of the Jewish and Muslim communities, along with the Cabinet Member, to discuss access to their cemetery and Brandwood End Cemetery. I am hopeful that we will soon have a solution that works for everyone, ensuring people can visit and learn about the cemetery.

I've been out posting a letter through every door on Avenue Road to help residents there to report illegal and dangerous parking. This is a major issue by Kings Heath Park. But if you are having issues on your road, please report it to the council through this QR code.

Birmingham City Council has produced a short video that teaches you the alphabet in British Sign Language. This is great to see and the more of us who can learn could help with social isolation and communication issues the Deaf community experience.

🚌Over 1,000 people want a new bus route. If you want to share the survey, there are window posters now available at Kings Heath Community Centre. Or you can email me for a digital copy.
Next month I will write to the West Midlands Mayor, so please spread the word.

Great seeing @richardparkerwm.bsky.social open the day at the @globalcompactuk.bsky.social road show in Birmingham earlier this week. It was a huge honour to be asked to speak on the major sustainable development issues facing Birmingham, and how we can work together across sectors to address them.

This has really intersected along my interests

Thanks to everyone who came to the LTN engagement session today. One big concern was the LTN and re-opened train station making it harder for residents to park by their homes. I've set up a short survey we can use as a petition to the Council. Please sign and share:

At this month's Full Council, I spoke about my work as Chair of the Sustainability and Transport Overview and Scrutiny Committee, and the need to work cross-party to ensure policies and strategies are robust enough to work long-term.

At this month's Full Council meeting, I spoke about taking action on the road safety emergency, and the importance of delivering measures like low traffic neighbourhoods properly to save lives.

This week I handed in a petition, signed by over 1,000 people, calling for a new bus route to be set up to connect Heartlands and the QE via Kings Heath.
You can still sign and share ahead of this being presented to the mayor later this year: tinyurl.com/HospitalHopper

What makes sense and what BCC do are rarely the same in my experience

That was approved and I'm still awaiting updates but I am chasing it. It is however separate from the ltn.

Along* not alone. Unless you want to, then that's cool too.

One big issue is this design lacks a hard closure to fully pedestrianize York Road. Any technical issues here could and should have been flagged to councillors months ago, but were only raised less than a week ago. I am clear to the council that I will object to opening the road or half-measures.
